"I HATE MEN" BY PAULA HERMANGE

A BOOK REVIEW

"Misandry and misogyny cannot be compared, quite simply because the former exists only in reaction to the latter." Author and Feminist Paula Hermange compels her readers to face the truth of her patriarchy in her essay "I Hate Men" and allows women to face the truth they have been living out their whole lives and also what they hide inside- their anger.

The infamous phrase "not all men" may as well be taken out of use now that we know, not just us women but also sensible men who understand the weight of those words. To stand up against toxic men, the internalised male gaze that confines women on a daily basis and the urgent need to stand for fellow women in affinity and sisterhood being overdue. Although, misandry upholds a reputation of being a despised word (as it represents hatred for the beloved man's world), maybe we as a society have been looking at it in the wrong light.

Ofcourse, it doesn't condone or justify the actions of certain radical women who claim to be feminists only to cut down every man in their radius. They are nothing but bullies and associates of misogyny if you think about it. Both work at tearing down the other gender without an objective of creating egalitarian relationships but rather proving their authority over each other which was never something feminism stood for, neither is it now. Paula Hermange in no way encourages oppression against men but identification of women apart from men, and supporting other women in their struggles and celebrations.
